February 22, 2010 : Indonesian boat maker Panizan Sunan Achayari, 32, was sentenced to death by Justice Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh of the High Court in Johor Baharu, Malaysia, for trafficking in 1.6kg of ganja in Majidee on March 22, 2006. (Sources : Bernama, 23/02/2010)
February 18, 2010 : in Seremban, Malaysia, High Court Judge Datuk Ahmad Nafsy Yasin sentenced contractor Al Bakhtiar Abd Samad, 32, to death for trafficking in 993.8g of cannabis at Kuala Pilah on July 8, 2006. January 6, 2010 : a restaurant owner was sentenced to death by Justice Datuk Zakaria Sam of the Malaysian High Court for trafficking ganja. Mohd Rofe Ibrahim, 40, from Kelantan, allegedly trafficked in 19,884gm of drugs at Gerik on May 14, 2001. (Sources : The Star, 06/01/2010)
December 28, 2009 : Judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin of the Malaysian High Court handed a waiter the mandatory death penalty for drug trafficking. Shahrul Izani Suparman, 25, was 19 years old when caught in Klang on September 25, 2003, with 622gms of cannabis in the basket of his motorcycle. (Sources : Bernama, 28/12/2009)
December 22, 2009 : a 43-year-old factory supervisor was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for drug trafficking.

December 17, 2009 : factory worker Muhammad Khairul Esa Jemali, 22, was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 316.53g of cannabis on May 8, 2008. December 11, 2009 : Judicial Commissioner Datuk Ahmadi Asnawi of the Malaysian High Court sentenced a former national cyclist to death for drug trafficking. December 7, 2009 : the Malaysian Federal Court dismissed the final appeal against the death sentence of a car repossessor. Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Ariffin Zakaria found Mohd Fauzi Omar trafficked 986.9gm of ganja at Gelugor, Penang, on September 2, 2000. The Court of Appeal rejected his appeal on April 15, 2008. December 4, 2009 : Alan Setiawan, 39, a labourer from Indonesia was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court. Judicial Commissioner Mohd Yazid Mustafa found he trafficked in 1.7kg of ganja on April 25, 2008, at Port Klang. (Sources : Bernama, 04/12/2009)
November 24, 2009 : at the High Court in Alor Setar, Malaysia, Judge Datuk Mohd Sofian Abd Razak imposed the mandatory death sentence on Jaafar Sidek Darus, 47, for drug trafficking. He allegedly trafficked 24.418 kgs of cannabis in Kulim on February 23. (Sources : Plus News Pakistan, 25/11/2009)
November 24, 2009 : in Shah Alam, Malaysia, High Court judicial commissioner Datuk Umi Khaltum Abdul Majid sentenced workshop operator Jasri Sarip Ahmad, 30, to death for drug trafficking. November 17, 2009 : a pirated VCD seller was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court. Ng Kam Wei, 31, allegedly trafficked 8,529.5g of ganja in Taman Selasih, Kulim, on December 22, 2005. 10 slabs of compressed ganja leaves were in a box in a car driven by Ng. November 13, 2009 : Two prawn sellers were sentenced to death by the High Court in Malaysia for trafficking in 36,220 grams of cannabis at a motor workshop in Pandan Indah, Ampang, eight years ago. Justice Datuk Mohd Zaki Md.Yasin passed the sentence after finding both accused, Halim Nor, 45, a Malaysian national, and Sabri Alias, 38, from Aceh, Indonesia, had failed to raise any reasonable doubt on the prosecution’s case.
"It’s difficult for the court to believe the defence testimony of both accused that they were not aware of the existence of the drugs. Thus, both accused are found guilty and the court imposes the mandatory sentence of death by hanging," he said.
Halim and Sabri were charged with committing the offence at DOHC Power Auto Services, No : 14, Jalan Pandan Indah 4/38, Pandan Indah, at about 4.15pm on Oct 20, 2001.
They were charged under Section 39B(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and sentenced under Section 39B (2) of the same Act, which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Alfred Egin appeared for the prosecution while Halim was represented by Ghazali Taib and Sabri was represented by Rusli Zain. (Sources : New Straits Times, 14/11/2009)

October 8, 2009 : the Malaysian High Court sentenced a Thai man to the mandatory death sentence by hanging. Judge Datuk Muhamad Ideres Muhamad Rapee found carpenter Mahamad Che Soh, 44, guilty of trafficking 17kg of cannabis on January 4, 2005, in Tanah Merah. (Sources : Bernama, 08/10/2009)
September 30, 2009 : Indonesian Nasir Ibrahim, 31, was given the mandatory death sentence by the Malaysian High Court after being found guilty of trafficking 868gm cannabis on January 7, 2004. September 16, 2009 : two Indonesian nationals from East Aceh were sentenced to death by hanging by the Shah Alam court in Selangor, Malaysia.
Justice Syed Ahmad Helmy found Amri Ibrahim, 36, and Musliandy Alamsyah, 26, guilty of possessing and trafficking 342.1 grams of marijuana in Selangor on January 16, 2007. The two applied for an appeal to a high court in Putrajaya. (Sources : Antara News, 16/09/2009)
September 14, 2009 : a Shah Alam court in Selangor, Malaysia, sentenced an Indonesian national to death. Judge Su Geok Yiam sentenced Hendra Gunawan, 29, from Aceh, for possessing and trafficking 906 grams of marijuana on March 1, 2004. Police found the drugs in a paper bag in his car at a gas station. September 4, 2009 : a 25-year-old man was sentenced to death by High Court Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh in Johor Baru, Malaysia. Khalil Anuar Sukirman allegedly trafficked 1,942.9g of cannabis at Taman Kempas on October 4, 2006. The drugs were found wrapped up in the basket of the his motorbike.

September 2, 2009 : the High Court in Shah Alam, Malaysia, sentenced a tyre shop assistant to hang for trafficking 625.7g of cannabis.

August 18, 2009 : the High Court in Kota Baharu, Malaysia, passed the mandatory death sentence on a Thai woman after she was found guilty of trafficking in cannabis. August 5, 2009 : the Malaysian Federal Court upheld the death sentence imposed on a part-time taxi driver for trafficking 937.8 grams of cannabis.
Justices Malanjum, Zakaria and Yusoff dismissed M. Kathavarayan’s final appeal. Kathavarayan, now 60, was sentenced to death by the Alor Setar High Court on October 29, 2003 for trafficking drugs in Alor Setar on May 31, 2000. (Sources : Bernama Daily Malaysian News, 06/08/2009)
July 31, 2009 : a 26-year-old Indonesian from Aceh was sentenced to death by the High Court in Shah Alam, Malaysia, for trafficking in 854.2g of cannabis. July 9, 2009 : in Malaysia, a 41-year-old salesman was sentenced to death for trafficking in drugs. High Court judicial commissioner Mohd Yazid Mustafa sentenced Azmani Che Rose for trafficking in 3,857g of cannabis at a petrol station in Seri Kembangan at 7.45pm on June 24, 2004. June 12, 2009 : three men were sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 45.49kg of cannabis on November 1, 2002. Car washer P. Samugem, 32, ship worker V. Kumaran and unemployed S. Prakash, 36, were sentenced by judge Datuk Azahar Mohamed. Azahar found that Samugem and Prakash negotiated the price of the cannabis with an undercover police personnel at the scene, and Kumaran was the driver. (Sources : Berita Wilayah, 12/06/2009)
May 12, 2009 : Judge Datuk Wira Moktarudin Baki of the Malaysian High Court sentenced Thai nationals Masoh Daloh, 35, and Romuelee Yakoh, 46, to hang for trafficking 34.9kg of cannabis at Titiwangsa Lake Park carpark on February 20, 2002. (Sources : Bernama, 12/05/2009)
May 12, 2009 : in Kuantan, Malaysia, a former policeman was sentenced to death after he was found guilty of trafficking in 811.9g of ganja in 2005. Judge Datuk Abdul Halim Aman sentenced Mohd Isa Zainal Abidin, 52, a former lance corporal at Pekan police headquarters. Isa was found guilty on two charges of trafficking in ganja at two locations. April 27, 2009 : a lorry driver was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court after he was found guilty of trafficking in 511g of cannabis.
Mohd Shuzairil Shamsuddin, 40, was sentenced by Justice Datuk Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad. Shuzairil was found to have committed the offence in Bandar Baru Ampang on July 3, 2006. "After scrutinising the evidence of all witnesses, I’m satisfied that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt and there is one penalty, death”, he said. April 22, 2009 : two Thai nationals were sentenced to death by the High Court in Temerloh, central Pahang state in Malaysia, for trafficking in 18.754 kg of cannabis. Justice Abdul Halim Aman convicted Sureeya Wuttisat, 45, and Asan Tong, 47, both of Narathiwat province.
They were found guilty of committing the offense at a petrol station in Bentong, Pahang on April 24, 2004.

March 13, 2009 : a 26 year old unemployed man was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for drug trafficking. Fiaz Ahamed Ibrahim was found guilty of trafficking 915g of cannabis at a toll plaza in Puchong in March 2003. February 27, 2009 : a former customer service technician was sent to the gallows by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in drugs. Judge Datuk Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad found M. Saravanan Muthu, 35, guilty of trafficking in 1,800g of cannabis. The offence was committed at a petrol station in Jalan Utara, Petaling Jaya, at 9pm on March 9, 2006. February 19, 2009 : two Indonesians, Hasan Rawi, 42, and Bahari Mohd Talib, 46, were sentenced to death, in Malaysia, for trafficking in 10kg of ganja at Sentul on February 5, 2002. Justice Datuk Wira Mohtarudin Baki said the prosecution proved that the 10 slabs of drugs found in Hasan’s car belonged to both accused and they had agreed to sell it for RM1,200 per slab to two police detectives disguised as buyers. February 16, 2009 : a part time taxi driver was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court after he was found guilty of trafficking drugs.
Romi Amora Amir, 38, from Larkin Jaya, was charged on August 5, 2005, with trafficking in 466.4g of cannabis on July 24, 2005.
Romi Amora also faced a separate charge of possessing 0.7g of cannabis. Romi Amora denied both charges and claimed he had no knowledge of the drugs found in the taxi. High Court Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh ruled that the defence had failed to cast doubt on the prosecution’s case. (Sources : Star Online, 16/02/2009)
February 7, 2009 : an Indonesian national from Aceh was sent to the gallows by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in drugs. Judicial Commissioner Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim handed down the sentence after finding labourer Muklis Jaafar, 31, guilty of trafficking in 866gm of cannabis. The offence was committed along Jalan Shahpadu, Kampung Teluk Kapas, Rantau Panjang, in Klang at 9.45pm on Sept 21, 2004. January 23, 2009 : judge Datuk Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin of the Malaysian Federal Court dismissed an appeal against the death sentence imposed by the Sibu High Court on former college student Teng Howe Sing, 31, for trafficking in 371.12 grammes of cannabis in Sibu on March 17, 1999. January 8, 2009 : the Malaysian High Court sentenced a man from Aceh to death for trafficking in 491g of ganja in 2006. Teuku Nawardin Syamsuar, 32, unemployed, was found guilty of committing the offence in front of the AS Logistics Sdn Bhd factory in Jalan Teluk Kapas, Rantau Panjang, Klang, at 8.45pm on Oct 9. The death penalty and not only
December 17, 2008 : a man from Aceh, Indonesia, who was sentenced to 15 years in jail and 10 strokes of the rotan after he pleaded guilty in 2005 to possessing drugs, received the mandatory death penalty from the same High Court in Malaysia. Former lorry driver Mohd Nor Fauzi, 43, was now found guilty of trafficking in 980g of cannabis at PJS 4/27B, Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya, about 5.40pm on July 13, 2000. On June 22, 2005, the court had amended the charge of trafficking under Section 39B(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 to a lesser charge of possessing the drugs at the end of the prosecution case. Following this, Mohd Nor pleaded guilty and was sentenced to jail and whipping. A week later, however, the prosecution took the case to the Court of Appeal and succeeded in having the High Court rulings set aside. The Court of Appeal also ordered Mohd Nor to enter his defence to the original charge. On Oct 9 this year, he gave evidence under oath to defend himself. November 15, 2008 : a Malaysian court sentenced two Indonesians, Mohamad Idris and Jainuddin, to death for drug trafficking, Antara newswire reported. The Kuala Lumpur based court found the two defendants guilty of distributing marijuana and were found to be in a possession of 5.7 kilogram of marijuana when they were arrested in September 2002. The two claimed that they were innocent and did not know the content of a package that they were then delivering to a person they identified as Tengku Yan, but they were never able to prove the existence of Yan. October 22, 2008 : an odd-job worker in Shah Alam, Malaysia, was sent to the gallows for trafficking in drugs three years ago. T. Sivakumar, 30, was sentenced by High Court judge Datuk Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad, who found him guilty of trafficking in 1,284g of cannabis in front of a spare parts shop at Jalan Utara 2/1 in Puchong at 2.30pm on June 19, 2005. October 8, 2008 : the Malaysian High Court sentenced two men to death by hanging after they were found guilty of trafficking in nearly 1kg of cannabis six years ago. Judicial Commissioner Ridwan Ibrahim, in making the decision, said the court had no choice but to pass the death sentence on Khairil Anuar Abdul Rahman, 34, and Afendi Adam, 28, after the prosecution proved their case against the two men beyond reasonable doubt. Ridwan, however, did not provide the grounds for his judgment. Khairil Anuar, a restaurant worker, and Afendi, a painter, were charged in the High Court here on March 12, 2002, with trafficking in 971gm of cannabis in Jalan Rokam, Taman Razaki, here on Feb 28, 2002, with another person still at large. September 26, 2008 : a court in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, passed the death sentence on an Acehnese migrant worker from Indonesia named Junaidi Nurdin, 32, for distributing 979 grams of hemp in the country. The verdict was read out by Judge Tuan Abang Iskandar Tuan Abang Hasyim at a session of the Shah Alam Higher Court, the defendant’s interpreter, Saiful Aiman, said. Junaidi was arrested by the Malaysian police on April 6, 2004, after an undercover policeman, Yusuf Bin Said, arranged a meeting to buy hemp in a restaurant. At the time, Junaidi had 1 kg of hemp and offered it to the policeman for RM 2,000. Junaidi is planning to appeal to the Putrajaya Supreme Court. (Sources : ANTARA, 26/09/2008)
June 17, 2008 : a chicken seller was sentenced to death by the Kota Bharu High Court in Malaysia after being found guilty of trafficking in almost 2kg of cannabis. Judge Datuk Sulaiman Daud passed the sentence on Ou Seng Sameae, 40. Ou Seng, from Narathiwat, Thailand, was charged with committing the offence in Kampung Berek Gong Demin on January 10, 2002. The court rejected Seng’s defence that he was an innocent carrier and that the bag containing the drugs was not his. (Sources : Bernama, 17/06/2008)
May 22, 2008 : a 29 year old odd-job labourer was sentenced to death for trafficking in cannabis at a house near in Kuantan, Malaysia, nine years ago. Saiful Nizam Yusof, of Beserah, was found guilty of having trafficked in 2,854gm of cannabis at house Lot 1513, KM29, Kampung Pantai Jaya, Gebeng, at 11pm on Dec 31, 1999. High Court judge Mohd Apandi Ali also found him guilty of trafficking 828.5gm of cannabis at a chicken coop behind the house at the same place and time. The accused was later taken to the Kajang Prison where he awaits an appeal against his sentencing. (Sources : The Star Online, 22/05/2008)
May 12, 2008 : two Thai businessmen were sentenced to death by a High Court in Malaysia for trafficking in cannabis in 2002. Justice Mohtarudin Baki sentenced Masoh Daloh, 35, and Romuelee Yakoh, 46, for trafficking in 34,942gm of cannabis at the Taman Tasik Titiwangsa’s carpark at 12.10am on Feb 20, 2002. The judge said that a police officer, acting on a tip-off, saw both accused in a car at the car park that day. The police officer checked the car and found four compressed slabs of drugs on the back seat of the car, 13 slabs at the back seat’s legroom and 17 slabs in a speaker. The judge said that the seized 34 compressed slabs of drugs were sent to a chemist in Petaling Jaya for analysis that confirmed it as cannabis. Justice Mohtarudin said he convicted both under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and imposed the mandatory death sentence. (Sources : The Star Online, 12/05/2008)
April 16, 2008 : an Indonesian national from Aceh province was sentenced to death by the Shah Alam high court in Selangor, Malaysia, after being found guilty of drug dealing. "Presiding Judge Zahara handed down the sentence on Muhyidin, 25," Saiful Aiman, the court’s interpreter for the Indonesian language, said. Muhyidin was arrested by police outside a factory, Hong Brother Holding, in Selangor on July 23, 2004. He was in possession of 441 grams of ganja. Data from the Indonesian embassy show that there are about 250 Indonesians, most of them involved in drug cases and coming from Aceh, who are facing the gallows in Malaysia. January 26, 2008 : a welder and a car wash worker were sentenced to death by the High Court in Malaysia for trafficking in 6kg of cannabis. Judge Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh said the evidence adduced by the prosecution showed there was a series of meetings between the accused and police undercover agents and they had offered to sell drugs. He found K. Nanda Kumar and M. Poobalan, both 30, of Kulai, guilty of jointly trafficking in the drugs in front of the Apollo Hotel in Jalan Nakhoda 7, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah at 8pm on Aug 24, 2003.
